Jurassic Park: Survival may have just been added to a bunch of gaming wishlists, as a new BTW featurette has fans excited. This first-person survival game from Saber Interactive looks special, and could add more interest to Universal’s prehistoric franchise. Now that Jurassic World: Rebirth has captured everyone’s imagination, now is the best time to go back to the first film’s setting.
The BTS featurette from this game’s YouTube channel showed off some in-game footage, as well as various interview clips from Saber devs. It’s clear that these developers are huge fans of the franchise, and everything seen here looks interesting. We’re also surprised that it took this long to make a survival game based on this movie, though some would say Ark was the basis for that.
If we had to complain about this Jurassic Park: Survival BTS showcase, it’s that there isn’t a lot of combat or stealth shown. Although we do see in-game footage of lead character, Doctor Maya Joshi, there isn’t a lot of her shooting or avoiding dinosaurs. The devs are probably saving that for a more explosive trailer, but a small preview of the combat or stealth would have been nice.
Still, it’s pretty genius to have this game’s story take place the day after Jurassic Park’s events. Considering how that movie ended, there are still plenty of dinosaurs roaming around these parts, and we’re interested in seeing how Maya survives these events. For the sake of this good doctor, we hope she knows how to use a gun, though we assume Maya can at least heal herself well.
Assuming the gameplay is up to par, Jurassic Park: Survival could be one of the best games in this series. Despite the love for Jurassic World Evolution 3, which looks like another great simulation title, Survival could beat it through nostalgia and scares alone. We can’t wait to hear all of those dinosaur roars again.
