Want to know the best Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma party team compositions? You've come to the right place.
The game released on multiple platforms including Steam, the Nintendo Switch, and the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. There's a lot to discover and a lot of familiar mechanics alike. Since you'll be exploring the fields, it's best to have a complete party with you. So, which are the best party compositions you can have on your adventure?
Once you reach a certain bond level with a character in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, an option will be available to have them included in your party. These characters have specific roles that they fill, and it's essential to take note of them. You can assign up to 3 characters to be part of your team and join you in battle outside of the villages.
What Are The Best Party Compositions In Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma?
Some of the best team comps include running a support party with melee and ranged attacks as well as offensive ones.
Combat isn't that difficult in Rune Factory (though, still subjective per player), but it's always fun to include the characters you meet in the game during your fights in the field.
All Roles in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
There are a total of 5 roles in the game that a non-playable character can have. Each character will have their own role and a specific weapon that they use. The roles are: Attacker, Defender, Buffer, Debuffer, and Healer. It's beneficial to have a diverse group of party members. Read on to find the best party setup for your team.
Supportive Party Setup (Melee)
If you're looking to rely solely on your ability to deal damage to enemies, and are melee-focused, mainly using weapons such as the short sword or long sword, then you'd have a better time having a Supportive party setup.
This is more effective if you're using a melee weapon since you'll be facing the enemies head-on with no Defender or fellow Attackers with you. This Supportive party setup will include characters with the following roles:
- Buffer (Example: Suzu)
- Debuffer (Example: Tsubame)
- Healer (Example: Ulalaka)
The buffer will be able to provide stat boosts to your character and others in the party. Suzu is a great Buffer as she can stay in battle, having no HP bar to worry about. This means that she won't faint like other characters. However, she doesn't have a weapon equipped, so this means that she won't be able to help with dealing damage.
A debuffer will further increase your damage output by lowering the enemies' stats, such as lower defense or attack output. A healer can be beneficial for sustainability, as you won't have to worry as much about your health. You can use offensive Sacred Treasures, such as the Sacred Sword, to deal more damage to enemies.
Supportive Party Setup (Ranged)
One of my favorite weapons to use or have in one of my weapon slots in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is the Talisman. If you're like me, who primarily uses it, or you use other ranged attack weapons such as the bow, then that means you'll need to keep your distance from the enemies. You'll need characters who will man the frontlines, while boosting your character as well. With that in mind, it's best to bring characters who have these roles:
- Defender (Example: Iroha)
- Buffer or Debuffer (Example: Suzu, Tsubame)
- Healer (Example: Ulalaka)
A Defender is a tank, and naturally will attract enemies towards them. This will allow you to deal damage safely from a distance. Iroha may be my favorite, since her original weapon equipped is a broom (which I think is really funny yet characteristic of her).
I also include a Buffer so your damage and your allies will have stat boosts. Alternatively, you can swap out your Buffer with a Debuffer so the enemies will have lower stats. Lastly, I found having a Healer is very useful, since they will sustain your Defender's HP. This will allow them to continue attracting the attention of the enemies.
Offensive Party Setup
Regardless of the weapon you use, this will be great if you want your companions to deal a lot of damage on your behalf. There are times that characters will be all over the place, though, so don't heavily rely on your party members. Here's the party composition:
- Attacker (Example: Matsuri, Murasame, Hina [Also from Rune Factory 5])
- Attacker
- Buffer (Example: Suzu)
The primary focus will be on eliminating the enemies as fast as possible. Both Attackers will attack any enemies in your way. The Buffer will effectively boost your team's stats to deal with the monsters faster. You'll have to keep watch of your HP since you won't have a Healer at your disposal.
Remember that the characters you bring to the party will have bonds leveled up. While it's great to follow the party setup schemes I've recommended, it's still good to bring the characters whose bonds you want to raise.
Be mindful of your party members' levels as well, as some may get left behind in terms of level as you progress through the story and face more difficult and higher-leveled enemies.
