Just a few days before the new season arrives, NetEase has shared all the details about the new content coming to Marvel Rivals in Season 5. Titled Love is a Battlefield, the season is expected to bring more of the usual content, and a few unexpected additions like a new social hub or a feature to improve progression tracking, regardless of the platform you're on.
Here is a summary with all the important information about the Season 5 content so you can get up to speed and prepare accordingly.
When Does Marvel Rivals Season 5 Come Out?
Marvel Rivals Season 5 is scheduled to come out on Friday, November 14th, on all platforms. A maintenance period is scheduled to begin at 1:00 AM PT (9:00 AM GMT) and will last between two and three hours.
During this downtime, the respective patch with the new content will be available to download. However, players will have to wait until the maintenance is over to enjoy the new season.
Like we mentioned, the season will last two months, with a mid-season patch arriving sometime in December to add a second wave of content.
Trailer
Here is the cinematic trailer for the new season, which gives us a first official look at the two new heroes coming to the game:
New Heroes
The season will introduce two new mutants as playable characters: Gambit and Rogue. Gambit will join the fray once the season begins, while Rogue will go live in December, when the Season 5.5 update comes out.
In case you haven't seen it, here is the gameplay trailer for Gambit:
The gameplay trailer for Rogue and more information about her abilities will be released once we are closer to her release date.
New Map and Mode
The season brings a new mode titled Annihilation, which is an 18v18 Conquest-type format. If the mode is similar to what we've seen in Battlefield, we expect the map to have multiple capture zones, and the team controlling the majority of them will accumulate points. The first team to reach a certain threshold will win the match.
The mode will be played on a brand-new map called Grand Garden, which we expect to be significantly bigger in size to host 36 players in one match. Both the map and mode are scheduled to come out on Thursday, November 27th.
Social Hub
One of the unexpected additions of this season is a new social hub. A Times Square map will be added and will act as a non-combat map that can host up to 100 players simultaneously.
Players will be able to emote, interact with other players, watch videos through the screens in the map's buildings, and even read books (?) as Gaungguang said on the Season 5 developer video.

Team-Up Abilities
As always, Team-Up Abilities will receive changes and new additions with the upcoming season. These are all the new Team-Ups, along with the ones getting adjusted:
New Team-Ups
- Explosive Entanglement (Gambit and Magneto): Gambit is the anchor. When activated, Magneto's primary attack is replaced with a kinetic-charged greatsword. It explodes on impact and injects unstable kinetic energy into the enemy for a few seconds.
- Sword of Duality (Cloak and Dagger and Hawkeye): C&D are the anchor. When Hawkeye uses his Crescent Slash, it knocks enemies back and fires a light-and-dark energy wave that passes through allies and enemies. This wave heals teammates, damages, and applies anti-heal to enemies.
- Blade of Konshu (Moon Knight and Blade): Blade is the anchor. When activating the ability, Blade dashes forward and slashes enemies with his sword. After the dash, Blade performs several quick sword strikes, each one launching a moon projectile that bounces and damages enemies.
Adjusted Team-Ups
- Mental Projection: Magneto will be removed.
- Chilling Assault: Hawkeye will be removed.
- Primal Flame: Black Widow will be added. When active, Black Widow can shoot Phoenix-empowered bullets from her sniper rifle. These bullets damage enemies in an area and heals allies, however, these can't do critical damage.
Removed Team-Ups
- Lunar Force (Blade, Cloak and Dagger, Moon Knight)
- Operation Microchip (Punisher and Black Widow)
