In the world of Helldivers 2, three factions actively oppose Super Earth's goal of galactic freedom: the Illuminate, Terminids, and the Automatons. All are extremely dangerous yet fun to go against, but it seems that out of the three, the robotic threat is the only one that has yet to have its own major event.

The game has made it clear that the faction is indeed something to worry about, given how intimidating its units and its goal of wiping out humanity can be. However, unlike the Terminids and the Illuminate, it has yet to do anything to plunge players into a situation that shows why it should truly be feared.

Giving the Automatons their own major event would rectify that, providing them with their much-deserved time in the spotlight. This is something that the faction absolutely needs, as its peers have had their opportunities to shine, and they've greatly benefited from it.

A good example of this is the Battle for Super Earth, where the Illuminate made their presence known with a large-scale invasion on the planet. The event updated the highly intelligent faction with additional units along with a new city-like level design to fight against, ensuring that its destructive capabilities were seen in an entirely new light.

Another would be the Dark Fluid event, where players were required to inject the planet Meridia with the titular substance due to the overwhelming infestation of Terminids. It is infamously regarded as it resulted in one of the most challenging missions of Helldivers 2, and solidified the bug-like faction as an extremely aggressive threat that should not be ignored.

Such events ensured that both the Illuminate and the Terminids left lasting impressions, becoming points of many conversations among the game's community and having players look forward to what they could do next. In comparison, the Automatons feel more like an afterthought, despite being a supposedly deadly participant in the galactic war.

Since the Illuminate and the Terminids have had their time, and it did them a world of good, it would only be fair for Arrowhead Game Studios to give the Automatons the same treatment. Focusing on the robotic faction for the next event would help it catch up and become as relevant as its peers, while also presenting the opportunity to create more interesting game content that players will highly appreciate.

If it were to happen, it could result in something similar to the Battle of Super Earth, but with the Automatons leading the charge to take advantage of the Illuminate's failed invasion attempt. Such a thing would certainly attract a lot of attention, while also providing Arrowhead Game Studios the chance to give the robotic threat its much-needed upgrade and time in the spotlight.

Of all the factions in Helldivers 2, the Automatons are currently lacking in terms of presence in the galactic war, but Arrowhead Game Studios can change that. All the developer has to do is provide a game update that contains a major event with them as the main focus, making them more popular while giving players and fans something to look forward to.
