Helldivers 2’s upcoming update changes the way the game is meant to be played by embracing a pure stealth experience.
In the upcoming Redacted Regiment Warbond, launching on January 20, Arrowhead introduces a slew of new weapons for spreading democracy. What’s notable about the new Warbond is its full embrace of stealth. Weapons like the R-72 Censor, a mid-range rifle with an integrated suppressor, and the new AR-59 assault rifle, a fully automatic weapon with a non-removable suppressor, highlight this focus.

But just like its selection of stealth weapons, a new Helldivers mission will have players dropping into a planet with barely any support at all. That means no Stratagems, no reinforcements, and no form of outside help other than our own (and three other Helldivers with us)
The update isn’t live yet for most people, but one user from the Helldivers 2 Facebook community has already played this mission. Players believe it is caused by a leaker and a cheater that gained access to the games files before its intended launch on January 20.
He was playing the game on Helldive Difficulty on Lesath, and he noticed a new mission type like Liberation and Defense Campaigns. This one, however, is called a Commando Mission.

As he dropped to the planet mid-way through the mission, the Super Destroyer will go out of orbit after 60 seconds, giving you a single minute to prepare what weapons and backpacks you are going to use. Recommended loadouts for this mission are Supply Packs and Thermites to deal with heavy enemies. This is also the time for Helldivers to equip their loadouts with stealth weapons from the Redacted Regiment Warbond.
The mission’s main goal is to collect intel at the orange-colored POIs (points of interest) without alerting too much resistance. After collecting intel, the game rewards you with 3 additional revives. While this may sound easy, reinforcing fallen Helldivers requires heading to specific points on the map. This makes communication within the team essential; otherwise, things can quickly become chaotic and lead to mission failure.

The biggest hurdle for this mission is how it completely removes the very thing Helldivers are good at: blowing things up. Without the aid of their 500KG Bombs and Orbital Lasers, they feel powerless. It’s like watching a bird with clipped wings.
Since Arrowhead dropped the Into the Unjust update for Helldivers 2, the mission variety has greatly improved. Terminid missions had players drilling oil in the middle of a swarm of bugs, and Automaton missions forced players to endure a barrage of bullets just to safely extract Platinum bars. Both missions become nightmares at higher difficulties, with some players complaining about it on Reddit. Arrowhead also confirmed that harder missions are coming in future updates. This Commando Mission seems to be the first taste of what's to come.
This new mission, on the other hand, is still a complete mystery. Whether what the player experienced is an isolated case or not, Arrowhead seems to have plans to amp up the difficulty even further with this new set of missions.
